Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Marlon Casquejo today apologized for the observers’ refusal to print the ballot in the May 9 elections.
As such, Casqujo said the poll body will conduct a random ballot inspection to rectify the current situation.
During the hearing of the Senate electoral reforms committee, Senate President Vicente Sotto III asked the Comelec about the commission’s disapproval of admitting ballot printing observers to the National Printing Office (NPO).
But Casquejo explained that because of the current situation due to the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, they did not invite observers to ballot printing.
However, the official still apologized because it was not a reason for them not to admit observers
