The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced that the National Capital Region (NCR) and Western Visayas wage boards have already approved adjustments to workers’ minimum wages.
Based on the DOLE statement the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-NCR) issued Wage Order No. NCR-23 last May 13, 2022.
It states that a wage hike increase of P33 per day has been given for minimum wage earners, so the minimum wage for the non-agriculture sector will increase to P570 and P533 for workers in the agriculture sector.
According to the DOLE, they expect that up to one million minimum wage earners in private establishments in the region will be blessed.
“It is expected to protect around one million minimum wage earners in private establishments in the region from undue low pay. The increase is considered the restoration of the purchasing power of minimum wage earners because of the escalating prices of basic goods, commodities, and petroleum products, ”part of the DOLE statement. “The last Wage Order for workers in private establishments in NCR took effect on 22 November 2018.”
Meanwhile, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – VI also announced Wage Order No. RBVI-26 is also for wage increase in non-agriculture, industrial and commercial establishments in Western Visayas amounting to PP55 and P110.
As a result, the daily minimum wage in the region is at P450 and PP420 for businesses with 10 or more workers and for those with 10 or fewer workers.
The Board also approved a P95 increase for workers in the agriculture sector to increase the daily minimum wage by P410.
The new Wage Orders will be submitted to the Commission for review and they will take effect 15 after publication in the newspaper with general circulation.
