A vaccine expert recommended that senior citizens and immunocompromised be vaccinated with the 4th dose.
This is due to the fact that the two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are still not enough as protection for these individuals, especially now that there is a reported emergence of new variants of the deadly virus outside the Philippines.
Vaccine Expert Panel chairperson Dr. Nina Gloriani said that a person’s higher protection against the virus can be ensured after being vaccinated with the third dose or first booster shot, while immunocompromised individuals and senior citizens need to be injected with the fourth dose.
It is said that the primary doses of vaccines against the said disease will not be enough, especially in its new variants.
It will be recalled that the government has launched nationwide vaccination drives in the country to further expedite the vaccination of senior citizens.
