Subic Bay Freeport Zone — March 24, 2025 — District Collector Atty. Marlon Fritz B. Broto, MNSA, and key officers from the Bureau of Customs – Port of Subic attended the 2025 State of the Freeport Address hosted by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA). The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from multiple industries, all committed to the continued development of the Freeport.

The Chief-of-Staff and Chief of Formal Entry Division Atty represented BOC-Subic alongside the District Collector. Aileen Amada-Tortoles, Deputy Collector for Assessment Mr. Andrew Malcolm Calixihan, Deputy Collector for Operations Atty. Allen Dela Cruz, and Deputy Collector for Administration Mr. Isagani Galsim.

Attendees were warmly welcomed by SBMA Chairman Engr. Eduardo Jose L. Aliño and his wife set a warm and engaging tone for the day’s activities. The event, organized by the Subic Bay Freeport Chamber of Commerce (SBFCC), featured the inauguration of new officers and speeches from the SBFCC president and invited guest speakers.

A key highlight was the chamber’s reaffirmed commitment to supporting the CREATE MORE directive—an initiative aimed at enhancing competitiveness and creating more opportunities across various sectors. The SBFCC president also emphasized the chamber’s active role in logistics, transportation, and marketing efforts in close collaboration with SBMA.

Chairman Aliño delivered a well-received, data-driven address on the current state and future vision of the Freeport. Key areas of focus included:
• Carbon neutrality and sustainability efforts
• Stakeholder welfare and housing developments, with groundbreakings already underway
• Port development as a cornerstone of economic growth
• Tourism expansion, including the boardwalk renovation set for Q3 2025 and the arrival of electric buses this April.

The strong presence of tourism-related stakeholders highlighted the sector’s central role in the Freeport’s economic ecosystem.

Chairman Aliño concluded the event with a powerful message of unity and cooperation, calling on all stakeholders to work together toward a progressive, sustainable, and inclusive Subic Bay Freeport.

District Collector Atty. Marlon Fritz B. Broto expressed the Bureau of Customs – Port of Subic’s full support for SBMA’s plans and programs. He emphasized that the Customs team is committed to working hand in hand with SBMA and other stakeholders to make Subic Port a better, more efficient, and more competitive port in the region.
