MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) reaffirmed its strong partnership with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) today as PNP Chief, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, made an official visit to the BOC headquarters. The renewed alliance underscores the agencies’ united front in combating corruption, smuggling, and national security threats.

General Torre’s presence during the BOC’s flag-raising ceremony symbolized the strengthening inter-agency cooperation between the PNP and the BOC. In his message, he emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond protocol — it is a strategic partnership in ensuring public service reform and the restoration of public trust.

“Being here at your flag-raising ceremony is not just a gesture of respect between our agencies; it is a strong statement of unity,” said PGEN Torre. “Sa bawat laban ninyo, kaagapay ninyo ang PNP. Hindi lang ‘to laban ng Customs at hindi lang ‘to laban ng PNP — laban ito ng buong bayan.”

He pledged the PNP’s continued support in intelligence sharing, joint law enforcement operations, and protection for BOC personnel conducting critical missions.

In response, BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno expressed deep appreciation for the PNP’s partnership, noting that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had entrusted him with a clear directive: to reform and professionalize the Bureau.

“Inutusan ako ni Pangulong Bongbong kung ano ang dapat gawin dito — pagbutihin natin,” said Commissioner Nepomuceno. “Let’s not second-guess his intention; therefore, don’t second-guess my programs. What I’m doing on day one will be the same things I will pursue until I leave the Bureau.”

Commissioner Nepomuceno stressed that lasting reforms and national progress demand solidarity across government agencies, especially in addressing entrenched issues such as smuggling and corruption at Customs.

The event was attended by top officials from law enforcement and partner agencies, reflecting broad-based support for the BOC’s transformation. Among those present was CIDG Director BGen. Romeo Macapaz, PNP Regional Director PBGen. Jean Salvador Fajardo, NBI Assistant Director Noel Bocaling, and QCPD Legal Officer Atty. Magtanggol Gatdula.

Their collective presence sent a powerful message of unity and resolve to uphold integrity, transparency, and national security.

With the PNP and BOC renewing their alliance, both institutions reaffirm their shared mission: to serve the Filipino people with excellence and a steadfast commitment to good governance.
