CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Cagayan de Oro, under the leadership of District Collector Atty. Manuel “Manny” O. Zurbito Jr. joined the Muslim community in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, in a gathering held at the BOC Grounds in Macabalan.

The event highlighted the Bureau’s commitment to fostering unity, respect, and inclusivity among its personnel while recognizing the dedication of Muslim employees who observed fasting, prayer, and reflection throughout Ramadan.

In his message, Collector Zurbito commended Muslim personnel for their steadfast commitment to public service even while observing the spiritual obligations of the holy month.

He emphasized that the celebration serves not only as a cultural observance but also as a reminder of the importance of mutual respect and solidarity within the organization.

The gathering also reflected the broader direction of the Bureau of Customs under Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, which promotes an inclusive workplace environment that values cultural understanding while maintaining professionalism and operational excellence.

Meanwhile, a parallel celebration was also held at the Sub-Port of the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, led by Sub-Port Collector Atty. Geniefelle P. Lagmay.

Lagmay spearheaded the Eid al-Fitr observance at the MCT BOC office, bringing together Customs personnel in a show of unity and respect for the diverse traditions within the workforce.

Officials said the celebration at both the main port in Macabalan and the MCT Sub-Port underscored the Bureau’s efforts to strengthen camaraderie and cooperation among employees while recognizing the cultural and religious traditions represented within the organization.

Through initiatives such as the Eid al-Fitr gathering, the Port of Cagayan de Oro continues to promote a work environment that values inclusivity, cultural understanding, and unity, reinforcing the Bureau’s mission of delivering efficient public service while nurturing respect among its personnel.
