While others talk about unity, District Collector Atty. Manuel “Manny” O. Zurbito Jr. of the Bureau of Customs – Port of Cagayan de Oro proves it in action.

With commanding leadership and a deep respect for diversity, Zurbito rallied the entire Customs community in a powerful celebration of Eid al-Fitr at the BOC Grounds in Macabalan — marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan and honoring the dedication of Muslim employees who continue to serve the nation with discipline and integrity.

In a bold show of solidarity, Zurbito saluted the unwavering commitment of Muslim personnel who faithfully observed fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection during Ramadan while never letting their duty to the Bureau and the Filipino people falter.

“This celebration is not just about tradition — it is about respect, unity, and the strength of a workforce that stands together regardless of faith,” Zurbito emphasized.

Under his watch, the Port of Cagayan de Oro continues to build a culture of respect, professionalism, and inclusivity, reflecting the broader vision of BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno to create a Customs service that values both performance and people.

But the momentum did not stop in Macabalan.

At the Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, the celebration roared just as strongly under the leadership of Sub-Port Collector Atty. Geniefelle P. Lagmay, who spearheaded the Eid al-Fitr observance at the BOC office.

Lagmay, known for her decisive leadership at the Sub-Port, made sure that the spirit of Eid resonated across the workforce — reinforcing unity, cultural respect, and shared purpose among Customs personnel.

Her leadership at the MCT Sub-Port continues to drive not only operational efficiency but also a workplace culture where diversity is honored, and teamwork thrives.

With Zurbito steering the Port of Cagayan de Oro and Lagmay commanding the Sub-Port of MCT, the message is loud and clear:

Customs in Northern Mindanao is not just about enforcement and revenue collection — it is about unity, leadership, and a workforce bound by respect and shared mission.

And as Eid al-Fitr reminds everyone of renewal and gratitude, one thing stands firm at the Port of Cagayan de Oro —

Under Zurbito’s leadership, Customs unity is not just celebrated. It is lived.
