MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is firing on all cylinders!
Under the leadership of Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, the BOC has posted its highest-ever January-to-September collection of ₱757.406 billion, smashing its nine-month target and putting the agency on a strong footing as it races toward the ambitious ₱1-trillion revenue goal for 2026.
The numbers speak loud and clear: the BOC is not merely chasing its targets—it is already collecting beyond expectations!
From January to September, the agency hauled in ₱8.913 billion above its ₱748.494-billion target, exceeding the collection program by 1.2%. Compared with the same period last year, revenue surged by a hefty ₱55.735 billion, or 7.9%.
That is real money collected, real targets surpassed, and real momentum heading into the final three months of the year!
SEPTEMBER DELIVERS ANOTHER POWERHOUSE PERFORMANCE!
The BOC showed no signs of slowing down in September, raking in ₱93.339 billion against its monthly target of ₱89.184 billion.
The result: a whopping ₱4.155-billion surplus, or 4.7% above target!
Even more striking, September’s collection jumped by ₱13.056 billion—or 16.3%—compared with the same month in 2025.
The latest figures add fresh firepower to the agency’s revenue campaign, putting the spotlight on the work of Customs personnel and the administration’s continuing drive to tighten collection, improve assessment, curb smuggling, and plug revenue leaks.
NEPOMUCENO RALLIES CUSTOMS TROOPS: ₱1 TRILLION IS A SHARED MISSION!
Commissioner Nepomuceno credited the agency’s performance to the dedication, discipline, and hard work of BOC personnel nationwide, stressing that the push toward the trillion-peso mark is not the responsibility of a handful of officials but a collective mission.
“To all our men and women in the Bureau of Customs, the ₱1-trillion goal is ambitious, but our performance shows that we are on the right track,” Nepomuceno declared.
He underscored that the agency had already collected ₱757.4 billion in nine months, surpassed its target, and recorded 7.9% growth over the previous year’s comparable period.
Beyond the impressive figures, the Commissioner said, the results reflect the commitment of Customs employees to public service.
He called on the entire organization to maintain its unity, determination, and focus as the final quarter approaches.
“Let us look at this goal not as a responsibility of a few, but as a shared mission of the entire Bureau,” he stressed, emphasizing that the agency’s success ultimately translates into benefits for the country.
IAM MOVEMENT TIGHTENS THE SCREWS ON REVENUE LEAKS!
Behind the collection surge is the BOC’s continuing push for stronger revenue administration, improved valuation and assessment, intensified anti-smuggling enforcement, tighter monitoring, and more modern customs procedures.
These measures form part of Nepomuceno’s Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) Movement, which seeks to reinforce accountability, improve operational efficiency, facilitate legitimate trade, and ensure that government revenues legally due are properly collected.
The reform agenda puts the spotlight on a two-pronged mission: protect government income while keeping legitimate commerce moving.
For an agency entrusted with collecting customs duties and taxes, every properly assessed and collected peso matters.
And with the latest nine-month figures now on the books, the BOC has delivered a strong message: revenue collection remains a major priority, backed by measurable results.
FINAL QUARTER SHOWDOWN: CAN THE BOC HIT THE TRILLION-PESO MARK?
The challenge now shifts to October, November, and December.
With ₱757.406 billion collected through September, the BOC needs another ₱242.594 billion to reach ₱1 trillion by year-end—an average of approximately ₱80.865 billion per month over the final three months.
The target remains ambitious, and the final outcome will depend on actual collections in the months ahead.
But the latest performance gives the agency a substantial revenue base as it enters the decisive stretch of 2026.
For Commissioner Nepomuceno and the men and women of the Bureau of Customs, the marching orders are clear: sustain the momentum, strengthen enforcement, safeguard every collectible peso, and keep legitimate trade flowing.
The battle for ₱1 trillion is far from over—but the BOC has already put a record-breaking nine-month performance on the scoreboard.
