PARAÑAQUE CITY — No room for complacency when disaster strikes!

With lives on the line and disaster preparedness as the battle cry, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Parañaque City Fire Station, under the decisive leadership of City Fire Marshal FSupt. ALEXANDER DALE Q. BAENA, went full force in the 4th National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026, reinforcing the city’s readiness against the devastating threat of a major earthquake.

Leading the charge, Baena mobilized BFP Parañaque personnel, who actively participated and served as facilitators during the nationwide exercise conducted in various establishments and locations as part of the third-quarter earthquake preparedness activities.

The message was loud and clear: DUCK, COVER, AND HOLD!

But beyond the familiar emergency command, the drill carried a far more serious mission — preparing every individual, institution, and community to respond swiftly, correctly, and confidently when the ground begins to shake.

Under Baena’s leadership, BFP Parañaque emphasized the importance of practical disaster preparedness, emergency discipline, and coordinated response. The exercise provided an opportunity to strengthen the capabilities of firefighters and community members while identifying the importance of proper evacuation procedures and immediate emergency action.

EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS IS NOT A GAME — IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH!

A powerful earthquake can strike without warning. Buildings can collapse, roads can become impassable, and panic can turn a dangerous situation into a deadly tragedy.

That is why the BFP Parañaque is pushing preparedness beyond simple announcements and routine exercises. Through active participation in the NSED, firefighters help equip communities with the knowledge and confidence needed to protect themselves and others.

For Baena, the challenge is clear: disaster preparedness must become a shared responsibility, not merely an obligation of emergency responders.

The participation of BFP Parañaque underscores the importance of sustained cooperation among government agencies, private establishments, institutions, and ordinary citizens in building a disaster-resilient community.

BAENA’S MESSAGE: BE ALERT. BE PREPARED. BE READY TO SURVIVE!

The BFP Parañaque continues to remind the public that preparation before disaster strikes can make the difference between life and death.
