The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has been recognized by FedEx for actions that significantly ускорated the movement of air cargo at Clark International Airport, helping ensure faster delivery of parcels and everyday goods to consumers across the country.
In a letter addressed to Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, FedEx Philippines Managing Director Maribeth Espinosa commended the BOC for approving the operation of additional chartered cargo flights and for granting an exception to the Permit to Transfer/Transfer Permit. The measures allowed imported containers to be transferred directly to FedEx’s bonded warehouse for immediate sorting, reducing processing time while maintaining full compliance with customs laws and regulations.
With the approval in place, FedEx can now operate up to seven chartered flights per week, in addition to its regular flight from China. The first chartered flight was completed on January 13, easing early-morning congestion and preventing delivery backlogs at Clark.
Commissioner Nepomuceno said faster cargo processing directly benefits consumers and businesses. “Improving turnaround times at our airports means quicker delivery of online purchases, business shipments, and essential goods. At the same time, we continue to ensure strict border protection and full compliance with customs regulations,” he said.
FedEx also cited the support of Deputy Commissioner for the Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group (AOCG) Atty. Agaton Teodoro Uvero and Port of Clark District Collector Jarius Reyes noted that their close coordination helped ensure the timely approval and smooth implementation of the measures.
The BOC said the recognition reflects its ongoing trade facilitation and ease-of-doing-business initiatives, particularly in streamlining air cargo and bonded warehouse procedures to reduce delays that affect consumers.
In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s economic agenda, the Bureau of Customs reaffirmed its commitment to working with the private sector to improve logistics efficiency, strengthen supply chains, and ensure the timely delivery of goods to Filipino households.
