In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to intensify the national anti-drug campaign and fortify border protection, the Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) scored its largest high-grade marijuana (Kush) apprehension in history, seizing 151,334 grams worth ₱227 million at NAIA Terminal 3 on September 7, 2025.

The contraband was discovered inside six checked-in baggage of two Filipino passengers who arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, aboard Cebu Pacific Flight 53932.

Routine passenger profiling led to x-ray screening, where anomalies were detected. A 100% physical examination confirmed the presence of multiple transparent packs of suspected Kush. PDEA K9 units validated the findings, leading to the arrest of the suspects under RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act).

The seized items and suspects were turned over to PDEA for proper investigation and disposition, with full support from the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).
