MANILA — The Manila International Container Port (MICP) sent a loud and unmistakable message to the trading community: performance matters, partnership pays, and excellence gets rewarded.
In an aggressive show of strength and momentum, the Bureau of Customs–MICP formally honored its top-performing importers, brokers, exporters, deconsolidators, and shipping lines for 2025 during a no-nonsense awarding ceremony held on January 26, 2026, at the MICP Multipurpose Hall.
At the center of it all was MICP District Collector Atty. Felipe Geoffrey K. De Vera IV, whose leadership has turned the country’s busiest port into a revenue-generating powerhouse and a model of disciplined trade facilitation. Backed by a solid command group and a fully mobilized workforce, De Vera made it clear: MICP rewards those who move fast, play fair, and deliver results.
But the bigger signal came from the top.
The recognition program was firmly aligned with the marching orders of Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, whose administration has drawn a hard line—no compromise on border security, no tolerance for inefficiency, and no excuses for underperformance. Under Nepomuceno’s watch, ports are expected to aggressively collect, relentlessly facilitate trade, and protect the border without blinking.
And MICP delivered.
The Port rolled out the red carpet for its Top 10 Importers, led by corporate heavyweights such as Emperador Distillers, Mondelez Philippines, Universal Robina, Toyota Motor Philippines, Samsung, LG, Procter & Gamble, and even the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas—clear proof that big industry moves through MICP because it works.
Customs brokers—the often unseen frontliners of trade—were also put in the spotlight, with top performers from both Formal and Informal Entry Divisions earning plaques for efficiency, compliance, and consistency. Deconsolidators, exporters, and global shipping giants like Maersk, CMA CGM, Evergreen, and ONE rounded out the list of winners who keep cargo—and cash—moving.
A special nod went to International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), whose world-class terminal operations continue to give MICP its competitive edge in speed, reliability, and global connectivity.
In his closing remarks, Collector De Vera did not mince words. He credited the Port’s stakeholders for helping generate revenues that fund public services, strengthen economic resilience, and secure the nation’s borders—a direct echo of Commissioner Nepomuceno’s results-driven mandate.
“This is not just recognition of past achievements,” De Vera stressed. “This is a challenge to do more, move faster, and grow stronger together.”
With Nepomuceno setting the tone from the top and De Vera executing with precision on the ground, MICP is positioning itself not just as the country’s busiest port, but as one of the most disciplined, revenue-focused, and performance-driven ports in the region.
The message is clear:
Under this Customs leadership, excellence is demanded—and rewarded.
