MANILA — Wärtsilä Philippines Inc. has commended the Bureau of Customs (BOC), particularly the Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), for the efficient and timely processing of customs clearance for critical power equipment needed for an urgent repair project in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
In a formal letter of appreciation, the company cited the leadership of Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, noting that his emphasis on discipline, accountability, and streamlined procedures has translated into effective operational performance at the port level.
Wärtsilä also recognized District Collector Atty. Maria Yasmin Obillios-Mapa for her hands-on leadership at the Port of NAIA, which ensured that the shipment of vital engine components was processed without unnecessary delay or administrative bottlenecks.
Special mention was given to Special Deputy Collector Dr. Siegfried L. Manaois and the Pair Cargo Assessment Composite Division, whose coordinated and professional handling of the assessment process enabled the swift release of the shipment.
The cleared cargo was intended for the urgent repair of a damaged power engine in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, a project undertaken by Wärtsilä in partnership with Delta P. Inc. and its parent company, Vivant Corporation. The repair is expected to support the continued delivery of reliable electricity to local communities in the area.
Wärtsilä said the timely customs clearance played a critical role in preventing delays to the project, underscoring the importance of efficient border processing in supporting essential infrastructure and energy security.
The company added that the performance of the NAIA Customs team demonstrates how effective leadership and inter-office coordination within the Bureau of Customs can directly contribute to national development goals.
Wärtsilä Philippines expressed its intention to continue working closely with the Bureau of Customs and its specialized divisions in future projects.
