The fight against smuggling, criminality, and threats to border security in Central Visayas just gained more firepower as Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Cebu District Collector Alexandra Yap-Lumontad and Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) Regional Director PBGEN Arnold E. Abad strengthened their strategic alliance in a high-level meeting aimed at tightening security and boosting law enforcement operations across the region.

During a courtesy visit at the Port of Cebu, Lumontad underscored the crucial role of strong inter-agency collaboration in confronting emerging security threats, protecting legitimate trade, and ensuring that government enforcement remains swift, coordinated, and uncompromising.

Known for her firm leadership and proactive stance on customs modernization, Collector Lumontad emphasized that Customs and the Philippine National Police must stand as one force in defending the nation’s borders.

“Strong partnerships create stronger defenses. Through sustained cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and coordinated action, we can better protect our people, secure our borders, and deliver efficient public service,” Lumontad stressed.

PBGEN Abad, for his part, reaffirmed PRO7’s unwavering commitment to work hand in hand with the Port of Cebu in pursuing initiatives that promote public safety, operational integrity, and effective law enforcement.

The meeting highlighted a shared determination to intensify cooperation in intelligence operations, enforcement activities, and security initiatives designed to keep Central Visayas safe from illegal activities and transnational threats.

Under the leadership of Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, the BOC Port of Cebu continues to strengthen its network of partnerships, proving that a united front among government agencies remains a powerful weapon in protecting the country’s gateways and preserving the integrity of lawful commerce.

With Lumontad and Abad at the helm, the message is clear: Central Visayas’ defenders are closing ranks, strengthening borders, and sending a strong warning to lawbreakers—there is no room for smugglers, criminals, and those who threaten national security.
