MANILA — Wärtsilä Philippines Inc. has formally commended the Bureau of Customs (BOC), particularly the Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), for the efficient processing and release of critical equipment needed for an ongoing power project in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

In a letter dated October 31, 2025, Wärtsilä expressed appreciation for the leadership of Department of Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go and Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, citing their role in ensuring timely and coordinated customs clearance that supported the project’s uninterrupted progress.

The company also recognized the NAIA District Collector, Atty. Maria Yasmin M. Obillios-Mapa for overseeing the expedited clearance process at the port, noting that her management helped avoid delays that could have disrupted repair works on a damaged engine essential to the local power supply.

Likewise commended was Special Deputy Collector Dr. Siegfried L. Manaois, head of the Pair Cargo Assessment Composite Division, whose team handled the assessment and release of time-sensitive shipments with efficiency and accuracy.

According to Wärtsilä, the cleared equipment forms part of a repair initiative undertaken in partnership with Delta P., Inc. and its parent company, Vivant Corporation, aimed at restoring and maintaining reliable electricity service in Puerto Princesa and nearby communities.

The company said the prompt customs processing directly contributed to the continuity of the power project, underscoring the importance of inter-agency coordination in supporting critical infrastructure and energy security.

Wärtsilä described the assistance provided by the Bureau of Customs as professional and collaborative, adding that the experience demonstrated how efficient border operations can facilitate essential services and deliver tangible benefits to the public.

The company said it looks forward to continued cooperation with the Bureau of Customs and the Pair Cargo Assessment Composite Division in future projects
