Commissioner Nepomuceno’s Trade Reforms Earn Big Results at the Frontlines

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) under Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno continues to rack up wins for government service, with both a major international company and the United States Embassy hailing the Port of NAIA for its swift, transparent, and efficient customs operations.

In a Letter of Appreciation dated October 10, 2025, global healthcare company Mega Lifesciences Limited Inc. lauded the NAIA Port team, led by District Collector Alexandra Y. Lomuntad and Special Deputy Collector Dr. Siegfred L. Manaois, for their professionalism and commitment to smooth cargo clearance.

“Their guidance and dedication to continually improving the system, along with their commitment to timely clearance, have been invaluable,” Mega Lifesciences stated.
“Their professionalism reflects positively not only on the Bureau of Customs but also on the overall business environment in the Philippines.”

The company cited how the BOC-NAIA’s no-nonsense, efficient service has kept their supply chain running like clockwork — a rare feat that underscores the success of Nepomuceno’s push for honest, high-performance customs service.

U.S. EMBASSY ALSO TAKES NOTICE

Backing up that praise, the United States Embassy in Manila also extended its deep appreciation to Dr. Manaois and his team for their invaluable assistance and quick release of diplomatic shipments — vital to the Embassy’s day-to-day operations.

Led by Second Secretary Lauren E. Brauer, the Embassy’s delegation personally visited the Pair Cargo Assessment Composite Unit to thank the NAIA Port officials for their efficiency and professionalism.

Dr. Manaois, in turn, credited the Enhanced Trade Facilitation Program as one of the flagship reforms of Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, rolled out under the firm guidance of Collector Alexandra Y. Lomuntad.

NEPOMUCENO’S REFORMS DELIVER RESULTS

The back-to-back commendations prove one thing: Commissioner Nepomuceno’s reform agenda is working.
Through his leadership, the Bureau of Customs has been steadily shedding its old image — replacing red tape with reliability, and corruption with competence.

From the top level to the frontlines at the Port of NAIA, Collector Lomuntad and Dr. Manaois embody the kind of professionalism and integrity that Commissioner Nepomuceno has made the new standard in Customs service.

Efficient, honest, and business-friendly — that’s the new Bureau of Customs under Ariel F. Nepomuceno.
